Went to a gun show this past weekend and found the most incredible Remington 700 in 243. The wood on this rifle is to die for--XXX amazing walnut. It is an older Remington and the barrel is shorter than normal with the front sight still on.
I want to get a slightly heavier barrel, but still want the gun to be somewhat handy. Obviously it won't be a bag or bench gun, but more just for accurate plinking/varminting. I want to keep the lines of the gun close to the original contour primarily for convenience and to keep it consistent to the stock.
I've read on the site here about Lapua dimensions and that they have changed--are the dimensions listed here the new ones to tell a gunsmith?
Any other thoughts on building this rifle? The 6BR sounds like a great cartridge to do this with. Will I have any problems with the 6BR cases feeding properly? Thanks for your advice. Tainos.
