Considering a muzzle brake? MUST READ

i just got off the phone with lynwood harrel of harrels precision. i was in the market for a muzzle brake for a 7WSM build. after speaking to mr. harrel and finding out how he does business, i ordered three instead of one! mr. harrel is one of the nicest guys around. when the order was placed, i asked if i should pay with CC. he said not to worry about it that an invoice would be in with the brakes. he said to look them over and make sure they are to my satisfaction and then pay. i asked about the cost of shipping and he said not to worry about that either!!!!!! this kind of trust is unheard of in todays society. mr. harrel, it is MUCH APPRECIATED. why pay more for another brake that does exactly the same thing???????

The next time you guys get on the horn with Lynwood ask him what he thinks of Australia :D
A very interesting gentleman to say the least, and he puts out a hell of a brake for next to nothing.....

whats his web site? give me a link. I may need a break if i do a 300wsm build. Lee

Sure am glad I came across this post!! I am getting ready to have a 300WSM built by one of Mr. Harrell's neighbors and was going to use a different brake on it. It will now be a HARRELL's! I love to hear stories about people like this. Seems like they are getting fewer and farther between. And, a good product on top of it. :)

Thanks for the post.

+10 on Harrells.

Reading the 1st post made my decision on my next brake. Called up Harrells and spoke with Lynwood for 15-20 minutes. Man what a stand-up guy. Experienced same "pay when ya get the brakes" treatment. Heck of a guy, dang near called him to tell him I got the brakes and am very happy, but I did not have 20 minutes to chat...

Most awesome to see business conducted under the traditional respect and honor system. Felt guilty for not getting payment in mail till 3 days after I got em...

I just came across this thread and had 2 add my 2 cents.

I called Mr Harrell to ask questions on a powder measure. He was super helpful. I was not sure that I had enough cash to pay for the measure at the time. He said he would ship it to me right away, I could try it out and if I din't like it.. could send it back, if I liked it..I could send the money WHEN I HAVE IT! Who is BETTER than Mr. Harrell? He is a one in a Million!

Just put one of Harrells brakes on a new built 28' Pac-Nor 338 Remington Ultra Mag for a neighbor who was very skeptical about the outcome, you should have seen the smile on his face after he touched off the first one.. Said it was like shooting his stock 308.... I also have a Harrells cap for it, and asked him if he wanted to shoot it with the brake off---- he declined :D
With 98 grains of RL-22 behind a 225 Accubond I guess I don't blame him..
I'll work the load up and cronograph it as soon as the rains stop.......

Ditto on HARRELS! Good old Va. Appalachian men located in Salem, Va. His dies are legendary in BR circles and his 4 hole turret press and culver powder drop. are top shelf!

I too, can't say enough good about those boys. I too was taken aback when he wouldn't take my credit card info. I have since bought several more dies and a powder measure - all of which are great products. For those ordering the muzzle brakes for the first time - just be aware that while they are ported and threaded for a muzzle - but they are not finished on the exterior - which is left for final gunsmith fitting using a lathe. I bought several of the brakes and I have had different gunsmiths perform the work when fitting to a barrel. some loved them and some did not. Not because of the quality for price - but because it takes a bit more finish than some other brakes. Still - a tremendous bargain.

He is an awesome person, and his brakes work great! I'm the same way buy 3 to 6 at a time, always have them if me or a shooting buddy needs one.

Great guy to deal with for sure. I had the same experience that everyone else has had when I purchased a powder measure from him. It is a shame that everyone cannot do business this way.

I have an old .356 Winchester big bore lever that kicks like an angry mule. I have been looking for a brake for it but the guns have been out of production for a long time. Could they make a brake for it or adapt one of their current products?
