Confusion about the 6 x 47 case vs the 6 x 47 L.

Sense getting back into shooting something that has confused me is the case designations!

Is the 6 x 47 (22 mag case) the same as the 6 x47 Lapua case in water capacity?
If you don't know the water capacities, can you supply a link that has these figures? I consider this essential information.

Thanks to all.

No, they're nowhere near. The original 6X47 is the .222 Rem Magnum necked up to 6mm. The triple-two maggie was originally designed to be the AR-15's cartridge when the .222 Rem used in early prototypes was found a bit lacking in power, but a case whose capacity lay between that of the two .222s was adopted instead becoming the .223 Rem. The 222 Mag has ~5% greater capacity than the .223. QuickLOAD's default water capacity is 33.0gn for the 6X47mm. Remington introduced its experimental .222 Magnum as a factory number and the benchresters discovered it in due course in both .22 and 6mm form. The original .22 version was often described as being the most accurate of the three cartridges in the .222 Rem family and Sierra used it to test its 0.224" match bullets for instance. It was never a great commercial success which is not surprising given it was up against the familiar and excellent .222, a very consistent performer in its own right and used in benchrest for many years ... but both lost out to the .223 after it was adopted as the US military cartridge.

The 6/6.5X47 Lapua uses the Mauser / 30-06 / 308 etc case head and lower body diameter making it considerably fatter and increasing capacity considerably. QuickLOAD gives its 6.5mm parent form 48gn water capacity and the necking down will barely reduce that, so there's 45% greater case capacity before a bullet is seated.
