Component Selection for 600 yd Light Gun

I’ve asked a couple of smiths some questions via PM, but I figure they’re busy and I don’t want to be a bother.

I’d like to build a 600 yard light gun. Looking at stock and receiver options currently. Common barrel contours and such would help. Dusty suggested the MBR Tooley, and I like it but also wonder what else is out there.

I’m open to wood, laminate or fiberglass/carbon.

RB, LP, RE action I think.

So far, all I really know is that I’ll stick with jewel triggers and 4 groove barrels from Krieger and Brux, as that’s what I’ve always built with in the past, and they’re good with me.

Thanks all.

So you are only going to shoot it at 600 or 1000 yard competition?
Yes sir, I don’t know that short range is my thing. 600 has always been my favorite distance, so I thought if I were getting into benchrest that I’d stick with something I’m comfortable with.

We have some 3-500 fun matches, but specifically, I’d be looking to meet restrictions for 600 yard BR.

Dusty suggestion of the MBR Tooley is a good one. Alex Wheelers long range stocks are really good.

Excellent. In fact, that’s the other he suggested! Thank you.

Great minds… as they say.

I want a BAT, but I’m not sure which. Cartridges from the straight BR to 6.5x47
