I see that Hodgdon used almost all the same powders in their published loads data for 350 Legend, than they used for their 357 Remington Maximum data except two....Longshot and 572. The two cases are very similar in shape, size, and capacity although SAAMI maximum pressure is 40,000psi with 357 Maximum and 55,000psi for 350 Legend, so the powder charges are proportioned accordingly. I realize Hodgdon can't test and publish every powder for each cartridge, but can anyone speculate why Longshot and 572 were excluded, or why they might not be ideal for 350 Legend if they aren't? You'll see in the data that Longshot and 572 are the only 2 powders where the starting load and maximum load are nearly half the grains of the other powders published, so they are obviously fast burning magnum powders. Maybe Hodgdon was being cautious about chancing a double charge accidentally with Longshot and 572 when the data for 350 Legend was published 30 years after 357 Maximum data was published? Or perhaps Longshot and 572 were the least accurate as published for 357 Maximum? I have written to Hodgdon about this but I would like to know your opinions. Longshot and 572 appeal to me because they can also be used to reload 9mm, 380, and 38 SPL
