Commercial 6 HAGAR Brass? - Finally?

Congrats to Carl Bernosky on his win at Camp Perry - and since he used the 6 HAGAR spacegun to win - AGAIN - I hope at least one of the commercial brass case makers will seriously consider making a few runs of this cartridge.

It's too bad that world events in the middle east - which put a strain on U.S. ammunition companies to keep up with demand from our military - coincided with the advent of this cartridge. I think that if it weren't for that, one or more of the big ammo companies might've been persueded to make brass for such a fine cartridge for the AR15 platform.

I campaigned a 6 HAGAR spacegun for the better part of two HP seasons, but when no commercial brass was forthcoming, I sold the newest of two uppers I had, plus a custom Redding die set & most of the brass I'd worked so hard to form. No mistake about it - forming HAGAR brass is a royal PITA. And to make matters worse, the 30 Rem parent case has a large primer pocket, and was never intended to deal with the pressures we normally run in AR15s. Average life of my brass was 4-5 firings before the primer pocket got loose. Even the supposedly tougher Jamison 25 Rem brass that had to be neck turned in addition to all the other forming steps didn't last long when used for 600yd ammo.

I've still got a HAGAR upper, and would love to be able to shoot it again - is anyone who makes cartridge brass listening?

I talked to John last weekend and hopefully it may finally happen. He said that if it happens, it will be small primer brass and probably wouldn't happen until the end of the year. Lets hope it becomes a reality, since it is a fine cartridge and has proven its self on the field of competition. BTW, he only had one set of dies left as of last saturday.

The Hagar is great. Take a look a Whitley's 6ARturbo40, similar characteristics but uses Lapua 6.5Grendel brass which utilizes small primers. Redding makes dies. Easy to fireform the brass, too!

As I suggested elsewhere, try this basic brass:

The case is semi rimmed and has no real extraction groove, so the head is unbelievably stiff.
