Comments Re Champion or Superior brand safe?

With my collection of high end target pistols growing, it's been time to buy a safe. I'm finally getting around to it. Does anyone own one of those safes? Those are at the top of my list, despite them being about 50% more expensive than "big box" store brands. They feel great and have a fit and finish above any others I have checked out in store.

Any owners care to chime in?

Champion Triumph owner here. I bought my first one several years ago. It was so well liked by my friends and my brother that 3 friends bought them and my brother bought one also. Actually one of my buddies bought a crown grade instead of the triumph. When I bought the first one, I did a ton of research to make sure it was up to par with what I wanted, but now I don't have to. I can't say enough good things about the dealer I use either.

I own a Model T, S&G lock
Beats the hell out of a box store safe

My big safe, which I sold to the people who bought my house, was a Sportsman Steel Safe. It had 3/16" thick steel body, four layers of concrete fireboard, a Palusol door seal, multiple relockers, and had a door that fitted so tight than the air would "whoosh" out when I closed it.

The current version of that safe has a 1/4" steel shell abs a 10 gauge stainless liner. That is about as good as it gets. A 1/4" body can be easily city with a cutting torch, but the stainless liner needs to be cut with a grinder or saw. You can't pry these safes open. It would take a thief a while to get into one.

More importantly, the Palusol door seal and concrete fireboard means the stuff inside won't be damaged by heat, smoke, unless the fire is extremely hot.

Sportsman Steel Safes are not the only company that make this level of safe, but those features are what to look for.

I got a Champion Crown Series 40. It has a great black paint job with the gold letters. I have been completely satisfied with it. Just a couple of suggestions. The person at the store who helped me ask how many guns do you have? I told him it would hold all my guns with some extra room. He recommended I go to the next size bigger which was the 40 if I planned to get more guns. So I bought the 40. Looking back I should have gone to the next size bigger than the 40.

The lesson I learned, buy once, hurt once!

I went with the Superior Supreme series. No complaints or issues here. Only advice I have is to buy the next size up; they fill up quick.

Garages, safes and motors are all things you build bigger than you think you need. I only have 1 long gun that is a home defense ar, but I'm looking at a slender one so when we go on vacation it can be locked up. Hoping I can have it ordered with room for 3 long guns and the rest shelving for pistols and bullion.

I have a large Superior. Outstanding fire rating, good interior layout. A heavy bastard but a very good investment for me.

I have a Champion Crown 50 and it was the very first safe I ever purchased. It was more than a decade ago, but the quality and fit and finish was superb. It has never had a single issue. Highly recommend them.

Had a Superior Master 50 delivered last week, wanted the 40 but there was a 20 - 24week wait and the 50 was on the floor and inventory clearance priced for same $$ plus free delivery.
