Come out and SHOOT!

Even though I have been shooting rifles for 20 years, I have never shot them competitively. I have shot pistols in IDPA, GSSF, and USPSA, and usually do pretty well, typically in the top 10%.

Up until recently, I would have to drive around a 3 hour round trip to shoot a benchrest type competition. I just can't see dedicating the kind of time required for that.

While on a recent visit to Raton, I stopped by the benchrest competition that was being held. There was a competitor that I stopped to talk with and he was kind enough to show me a little about what was going on. This has me excited about trying to shoot in one of these local competitions at the next opportunity.

Just the point I was trying to make about engaging new shooters! Now hopefully someone in your area that shoots BR will reach out to you and follow up with your interest in shooting a match. Any takers?
By the way, out here on the Left Coast a 3 hour round trip is a walk in the park. I’m 2 1/2 hour RT to my range (Sac Valley Shooting Center) and that’s with no traffic! I do it at least twice a week, but try not to bring the truck unless I have work to do. Chevron loves me!
I don’t plan on leaving anything behind if I can help it!
