Combo ring sets

JoeMcNeill

I've seen quite a few combo ring sets being used, single screw and a double screw rings. But I have seen them being used with the single screw in front and sometimes in the back. My question is which ring should be used where? and why? or does it make a difference?

The more recoil the rifle has the more hold you need on the rings. A 22 rimfire needs very little hold, where a 416 Rigby needs a lot.

Most of the sets I see use the single screw ring in the rear. The choice of combo rings varies a lot. Sometimes it's just for weight. Sometimes it can help you get a scope a little farther back to help set up comfortable eye relief. Hope this helps explain just a few reasons.
