It is likely possible. Colt should be able to help you that.

yes ,the 303xxx showed 1907, BUT the Barrel Has Jan 1975 on it

A lot of old Colts have been pieced together over the years with later barrels and cylinders. That sounds like what you've got here - an earlier frame with a later barrel installed on it. The 3rd generation Colts changed the barrel thread from 20 to 24 (or 28") TPI, IIRC.

If you are willing to spend the time, I would recommend you take your questions to

https://www.coltforum.com/forums/.

Be sure to post in the Single Action Army sub forum. It has many collector type folks with decades of experience and knowledge. Be prepared to post detailed, close up photos of every letter & number stamped on the revolvers that you can find.

I agree with nicholst55 above.....first generation SAA's have been messed with since 1873. You will get good, accurate info regarding condition and originality from those guys if you post good photos.
Good luck

P.S.....Colt website said your 48xxxSA dates to 1968.

Thanks for the Info, my sister, made a mistake the barrel patent date is jan, 19 -75 NOT 1975, itis [ 1875 ] it is a original 1st Generation 4 3/4" SAA Made in 1907

Yes, the patent dates are all in the 1800's (1871, 1872 & 1875). All are located on the left side of the frame below the cylinder. They should be as shown in the first pic below. I do not recall ever seeing a date present on any first gen barrel, so that might require further research. I certainly could be wrong.

The barrel address should be as shown in the second pic below. The two line address is correct for an original 4-3/4" barrel. If all that info is in one line along the top of the barrel, it most likely indicates your barrel was cut from an original 7-1/2" or 5-1/2" and the front sight relocated.

Your serial # should be as shown in first pic (frame & trigger guard), plus another on the butt stock. Of course, all 3 should match.

Also, take a look at the forward, left side of the trigger guard bow. There should be a small triangle stamped there with a "P" inside. That's a "verified proof" stamp and indicates the gun is suitable for use with smokeless powder. I'm fairly sure that started around 1905, but it was a gradual process over several years, so its absence would not be detrimental

Again, good luck with your further research.
