I assume you realize that the laminates used in typical commercial laminated stocks are died prior to laminating them. There is adhesive involved in the process and then the stocks are finished in one way or another. This processing will adversely effect how the stock accepts a dye applied after the fact. Even if you have an undyed blank, the laminating adhesives will probably cause you some problems with the even uptake of dye.I have a bunch of Transtint Homestead dye leftover from my woodworking days, will this work on my laminated rifle stock or will UV fade it out to much. thinking of going lemon yellow
Yeah.. my first thought was.. paint it!I assume you realize that the laminates used in typical commercial laminated stocks are died prior to laminating them. Test your dye in an inconspicuous place first, like on the forearm under the barrel.
looks greatI dyed my stock with Keda wood dyes. It is laminated but not with thin laminations. It turned out great.
It looks better after the finish is on. Everybody that saw it really liked it. I dyed it black first and then sanded it off. That darkened up the curl. Then dyed it blue. Then we clear coated it. It shines that hard, that it is hard to take a pic without reflection. On the unfinished pic, The black in the firearm bottom is where the rails went, i didnt sand the black off there. Mattlooks great

I bought a lot with 5 different Keda dues for 15.00. They can be mixed to obtain other colors. That 5 little packs of color makes a lot of stain. MattThat did turn out nice. I'm ready to dye one here also. Good wood dye ain't cheap I found out.
