Colloidal graphite as an action lube.

DarkStar

There are those who have crossfired. . .
Several threads exist about using colloidal graphite as a barrel treatment. Would there be any positives or negatives using it as a bolt lug lubricant in conjunction with grease on the lugs? My hazy early morning thoughts make me think it could be a super fine final insurance layer against galling.

No need to put anything other than a quality EP grease. You may alter the qualities of the grease for the worse.

Graphite’s a fine lubricant for certain uses but I don’t count the high pressure bolt lug interfaces in modern rifles among them.

Since Moly has been around a long time, obviously, no, talking about 2 sliding surfaces under pressure.

Would that also include bores, since a bullet passing will be pressure exerted ?

Two different conditions entirely: one exhibits sliding, transient friction while accompanied by high heat, the other has higher peak peak pressures with no movement until the pressure's relieved.

Some shooters use it on a patch, after cleaning for Cold Bore 1st shot, liqiud evaporites, leaving the graphite in barrel.Like LOCK EASE has to be superfine graphite
