cold weather shooting gloves?

For years it didn't matter how cold it was when I was hunting or shooting, just a simple pair of cotton gloves worked fine.

Now as I have become old and cold I find I need warmer gloves to shoot and reload rounds with when it's down in the low 20's or colder. I have been looking at all kinds of "cold weather" gloves and need some help from our members who deal with this every winter.

They need to be thin enough to go through the trigger guard of rifles and pistols and I need to be able reload the pistol/rifle without problems, and of course warm enough to use so they don't join the other pairs of "warm" shooting gloves that don't get worn for just these reasons. Thanks!

I used to use the cut off ones that flip back. Then stuff a hand warmer in them. Worked pretty good for years duck hunting.

I get thinsulate running gloves from Costco. They have different thicknesses to choose from. Cheap and work great. Then just SLIT don't cut the finger off. That way you can fold the fingertips back to shoot or back over your finger for warmth. I did the cut off method the first year, always had two fingers that were miserable.

I have tried a bunch and the ones the work really well for me are the Seirus, Heatwave Glove Liners. The are not cheap but work better than anything I have tried.

Although liners, they still provide good warmth and are flexible enough for allow good trigger contact and controlled trigger squeeze. I use them both for rifle and pistol.

If you combine these with a muffer loaded with either heat packs such as Hot Hands or one of those rechargeable electronic hand heaters, they work even better for keeping hands warm. Just insert hands with gloves on into the muffer between strings and allow hands to warm. This is necessary at least for me when the temperature drops below 50 and I plan an extended range session or a predator hunt.

Looks at the tighter fitting Sitka merino wool “liner” gloves. I wear them all season

I tried all kinds of stuff. The best was just cutting the finger tip off the warmest gloves you can find and sliding a hand warmer on the back of your hand helps too. It worked ok, but still hurt. The actual cure was moving to FL. LOL
