Coin toss

Getting ready to build my next custom. Already have a 6.5x 47. Pretty much decided to go with a 260 for the next one but really like the 6.5x284. Thoughts?

Shooting will be mostly at 100, 300 and 600 yards.

Also what do you think would have the better resale value for as either a tactical or bench rest rifle?

I've owned both the 6.5x284 and now have a 260 Remington. The 6.5 x 284 was primarily used for 1000 yd compititions and performed great. Very accurate, great components available but has a pretty short barrel life. The 260 is used more for 600 yard comps currently, however I hope to take it to 1000 later this year. It has a longer barrel life expectancy and is "very" accurate with 130 Bergers and 123 Sierra's. I like the less recoil as well between the two. Hard choice to make , but for me the 260 gets the nod. As far as resale, that is very seldom a consideration for me when building a custom. YMMV.

My .02 you have a 6.5x47 a 260 would be redundant. I shoot a 260 in tac comps against a lot of 47's and it's a tit for tat. Very rarely see any 6.5x284's at those matches anymore so resale as tac not in the cards. I would look at the 6mm class a huge amount of choices that will mag feed for tac, it will do well from 1-6 for BR and will also do well in tac comp's to 1000. Nice deciding a new build ;D
