Cocking Piece Alignment

The rifle is for FTR and has a Defiance Deviant Action.

When I remove the firing pin assembly from the bolt then install back to just tight, the cocking piece nub is about 1/8” past the notch in the bolt. I rotate the nub back to align with notch and I have very small amount of wiggle in the assembly. Plumbers tape around the threads will tighten the fit.

How much of a problem is this? How should I tighten the fit?

Looks like this would have to affect the precision.

Thanks for any input and suggestions.

Usually Defiance shrouds fit the bolt very well. One of the best fits on the market actually. Just know when you tighten up the fit in one area you can cause a bind in another. Slop is better than bind when it comes to ignition. Tight and bind free is ideal, but you have to go through the whole thing to be sure of that.

Thanks for the input.

This is a used rifle so I am still trying to get familiar with the action and trigger.

Assuming everything is correct, should the shroud tighten against the bolt or does it have clearance between the two parts?

Thanks
