Coax press + 44 magnum Dillon dies= FAIL

I just found out from experience that Dillon 44 Magnum dies do not have enough thread on their body to effectively seat or crimp bullets in the Forster CoAx press. I wanted to load batch style, and not change my 550 setup, so I figured I'd run them on my Coax, but ran into this problem. Just wanted to pass it on in case someone else was planning on loading with this combo.

I bet they work real well in a dillon press though. I know they work fine in a regular press such as a rockchucker because all of my pistol dies are dillon and i do single stage them on occasion

Curious why you don’t dedicate a tool head for the .44 dies on the 550?

I don't have one (a COAX press) but I read (I think here) that Forster lock rings have to be used to get them to work properly.

I used to dedicate a die head to them, but lately I like using the M style expander from NOE, And my RCBS measure throws Unique better than than the Dillon measure. In that case, you may as well load single stage.

RCBS makes case activated linkage for their thrower. If you seat and crimp in the same operation you can use the RCBS thrower and Lyman expander on your 550.

I have used lee on my Dillon, but I have to get rid of the lock ring and use teflon tape to hold it in place
