Coated Expanding Mandrel

I'm currently using a 21st Century TiN expanding mandrel. I don't have any complaints.

I will need to buy more of them and wondered if the new black nitride ones are noticeably better. Does anyone have both and can offer a comparison?

I picked up one and ran it dry. Friction was low and consistent. The finish seems to be ground but not polished. There is an obvious deposit of brass in the texture of the mandrel but it’s fairly light and doesn’t seem to build up.

I don’t have a TiN to compare against.
