COAL vs seating depth and bullet jump help

So I was getting ready to load some 178 Amax bullets for my 308 Remington PSS. Using my hornady modified case and the bullet I determined that my CO AL to hit the lands is 3.017 however in order for the round to fit in my magazine it has to be 2.817

That will give me a bullet jump of .2 (200 thousandth)how will this affect anything? Is that too much bullet jump?

It seems like I could modify the rectangular case that the follower and spring ride in towards the front where it fits in the stock giving me plenty of extra room. Has that been tried before and is it a bad idea? Actually what is the best solution to this problem that doesn’t involve major dollars

this is a typical compromise when loading for a commercial mag fed rifle.
single load if just a bench shooter, or competition allows it.
try a different bullet . a 130/135 tangent form hornady got me on the lands in a 308
mag fed with "acceptable" accuracy.

many bullets can be extremely accurate at mag length or.shorter. only seating depth test will tell the tale. berger seating depth test procedure is a fast way to find that magic seating depth.

Test them with the long jump. I shoot 140 Amax in a mag feed 260. They work good for this hunting rifle. I tried them first in a 6.5x47L target rifle with little jump, and wasn't happy.

well, that box that slides in the stock pops right out, i mean the thing that the spring and follower go in. does anyone make an after market box that is machined for the bullet tips to use to travel in?
