COAL of 6 BR with 104 Free Bore

I know it's probably been discussed here before but I'm too lazy to look for it.

My question is, if your rifle has .104 free bore, what would I expect the COAL will be, with the bullet touching land, when loading with 105 Berger or 105 A-max for that matter .

Thanks
DF

My 6BR has a .104" freebore and a new barrel. So, these numbers should be pretty close. [br]
COAL with 105 Hybrids is 2.422" and Sinclair tool is 1.696". I load them at 2.407" - 1.681" and they shoot pretty well. H4895 and one of Fed 205M, Russian KVB-5.56M or CCI 450 do the job for me. My current load is with Feds but the other two have also performed very well. [br]
Good luck.

Thanks Steve,

I believed my smith used a reamer with less than .104 freebore. My coal with Berger 105 VLD measured 2.342". I'm still waiting for a response from him. Do you think I have enough room for 30 grains of Varget or Reloader 15 in the boiler room with that COAL?

Hi
I have a short throat 6mm BR and with 105 Amax I load to a coal 2.300" with 30.3 of reloader 15 no problems
hope this helps
best regards

ps I feel you are better of with a shorter throat then as it erodes you can chase it by changing your your bullet seating ;)

Mine is 2.385" with 105 VLD. You have more than enough room for 30 grains. I once experimented with 115 DTAC in 6BR and was able to cram 33.1 of a slower powder in a slightly compressed load. You'll have no issues.
