If I guy had a chance to buy a CNC lathe which would you recommend for gunsmithing?

Unless you have a BUNCH of spare money set aside, or are going to use it on a production basis, it probably isn't cost effective. That said, HAAS is probably as good as it gets.

I've been curious about how well this little Tormach lathe performs. It has a 1.4" spindle bore and a pretty short headstock for a cnc. http://www.tormach.com/product_15l_slantpro.html#techspecs I wonder what grade of bearings they used for the spindle?

I have one of their pcnc 1100 mills which has worked pretty well.

I just bought a HAAS TL1 it's been a very good machine. It comes with the intuitive programming software right on the controller and it has the ability to chase threads with almost no effort at all.

My goof. Not sure of a particular brand or model. If your shop requires a cnc lathe for turning around gun projects, my hat is off to you. In our shop, the manual lathes can do 3 a day if pressed for time. I know this is no help
