CMP New England Travel Games 9/20-9/24 Vermont

To All Shooters, Aspiring Shooters and Interested Parties -

The VSRPA is proud to advise you that the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) will be conducting the 2nd Annual CMP New England Travel Games to be held at the Camp Ethan Allen Training Site (CEATS) from September 20th thru September 24th, with the VSRPA hosting this event along with the Vermont National Guard. Last year's event brought in over 150 competitors, and we expect over 250 this year.

A variety of matches fired during the event accommodate both rifle and pistol, as well as new and experienced marksmen alike. Popular matches such as Rimfire Sporter, Garand, Springfield, Vintage, Modern Military Matches, As-Issued 1911 Pistol Match, Military & Police Service Pistol Match and a Pistol Two-Man Team Match are fired throughout the Games. Additionally, an EIC Rifle Match, an EIC Pistol Match, .22 Rimfire Pistol Match, Carbine Match and Vintage Sniper Match will be sure to challenge competitors of all ages.

For those wanting a more knowledgeable experience, a Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) will also be held. A staple event at the National Matches in Camp Perry, Ohio, since 1918, SAFS allows students to receive classroom and hands-on involvement in a safe, fun and engaging environment. Additionally a Garand-Springfield-Military New Shooter Clinic will also be held.

Instruction for SAFS is led by qualified CMP staff and experienced CMP Military Instructors and is geared toward new shooters, so no previous firearm experience is required. Students participating in SAFS will learn gun safety, target shooting skills, positioning, basic rifle mechanics and will also live fire on the range in a true M16 EIC match.

Of course, the CMP will be bringing along its mobile store at which M1 Garands, ammunition and shooting accessories can be bought a very reasonable prices - with attendees having "first shot".

New for this year at these games will be the use of Electronic Targets on Range 4-1, which means no relay swaps and no pit changes, so you can just concentrate on your shooting.

The VSRPA has made arrangements to have onsite barracks available, in addition to providing breakfast, lunch and dinner utilizing the onsite Cram Dining Facility. Barracks and Meals must be pre-registered, and barracks will be available in 1, 2, 4, 12 and 24 man rooms, so families, couples and friends can lodge together.
