HI
Lotsa really good info and some things I'm going to try.
AFIR no one mentioned bore mops for applying solvent- everyone said patches.
WHY???
Also no one mentioned using a bore snake first up to remove all the loose stuff first.
or
A varmint shooter who shoots 300 a day at PD's and runs a patch and a bore snake through every 50-100 rounds.
When going after rabbits I/we may move 3-10 times in a day, shoot between 50-300 rounds in a day, I carry 300) and not go back to the car for the whole day. It's bloody awkward carrying a rifle, ammo spotting scope etc etc to have to add a cleaning rod carrier and bottles of cleaning solvent etc etc to my load is going to make all that much harder.
I carry a squirt bottle of hoppes and a bore snake.
We have another thing here in AU. dust. You might laugh, everyone has dust, but the dust over here is finer than talcum powder by a larger margin and it gets in everywhere- the red stuff is the worst. In big patches of it in central aus it can even have waves in it like a lake and can be many feet deep. example:
End of WW2 Australia brought some crappy english main battle tanks. Engines kept craping out even with extra two filters.
A polite WTF?? was sent to Roll Royce in England. They said filters should work, AU replied NFW. england said send us a sample of the dust.
Sample obtained by 3 grunts with shovels walking out to tank range with 20 OZ tins and shovelling dust into tins. Tins were then sealed and sent to england.
Englands response not printable- not even close to printable. Accused Australia of manufacturing superfine dust and therefore dust problem to get out of paying for tanks.
We got ultra fine dust.
On a pro roo shoot or cull you can shoot 50-200 shots in a couple of hours- any suggestions on cleaning intervals there. Accuracy has to maintained at approx 1.5 moa or better for legal reasons.
Just asking for any suggestions on cleaning in those situations.
I't late here and have had way to much coffeee.
