Cleaning Rods: Carry case project

Nodak7mm

Team Lefse
Okay, I am too fiscally responsible to buy several Sinclair Cleaning Rod cases at 50$ a pop. ;) I have tried large dia alum & pvc tubing, & small dia pvc, not happy.

So anyone out there hava great idea for homeade cleaning rod case/carrier?

I use the "Prone-to-Success" soft cases and they have a provision for a cleaning rod in the bottom exterior of the case.

Just purchase a length of PVC or Aluminum tubine a bit larger that the rod, install it in the bottom of the case (there is a sleve sewn just for this purpose) and you are ready to go.

Oh, one thing, I did have to install a piece of elastic with velcro to retain the rod in the holder.

Bob,

Thanks, you just gave a me a great idea... Fishing Rod case or bags.... I'm on a mission now.. Especially with a Cabelas gift card to burn.....

If your barrel costs $500 (installed), then keeping that rod in good condition is really worthwhile, even at a cost of a few $.

DW,
I am in agreement, thats in part why I havent bought the Sinclairs, I dont feel the Sinclair Rod cases dont offer enough protection.

i built my rod carrier out of thick wall 5/8 ths i.d. aluminium conduit and lined it with 3/8 ths clear plastic tubing from the farm store. the tubing can be removed to clean or to replace and cannot rub the rods. the tubing comes on a roll and is cut to length.
