Cleaning rod for .204 ruger

drags

Silver $$ Contributor
I bought a .20 cal dewey stainless cleaning rod for my .204 ruger and I bought some .20 cal. sinclair bronze brushes. When screwing the brushes on the cleaning rod the part where the rod and brush come together the brush part is smaller than the rod. I thought they should be flush with one another so the rod would not damage the barrel or chamber. Did I buy the wrong cleaning rod or brushes?

I think Pro-Shot is now supposed to be making their 20 cal jags the same diameter as their 20 cleaning rods, at least that's what they told me on the phone last year when I called them about the same problem. Although I haven't ordered one yet and tried it, I haven't been shooting my 204 much lately.

Consider the Tipton.....it's carbon fiber so there's no coating to potentially get lodged in the riflings.

Consider the known hazards of the Tipton potentially getting a broken CF shaft impaled in your hand.
I don't know what people do to manage to scrape the coating of the Dewey rods. My first Dewey was bought nearly 20 years ago and it looks as new as a 20 cal. dewey I bought 2 years ago. That original Dewey rod sees hundred of passes through my BR rifle bores each year.

I'll take the Proshot over any others I've used. They just seem stiffer to me, and I think they make the best jags. Never liked a coated rod, and have only one carbon fiber rod. It seems OK to me, but like the Proshot better
