Cleaning Patches

I shoot a lot of center fire rifle (about a 1,000 rounds) a year so I clean a lot of rifles. For 30+ years I've been using Hoppe's synthetic patches because they do not shred or leave threads in the chamber or barrel. Apparently Hoppe's has disconnect their synthetic patches and replaced them with a cotton patch which shreds and leave threads.

I've tried Dewy and Pro Shot patches which also shred and leave threads behind. Basically these patches have a weave fabric which lends itself to shredding under pressure from the jag. In some cases just handling them initiates the separation of the threads.

What are you competitive rifle shooters using who shoot a lot? Can you recommend something that does shred?

hmmm
threads are part of cleaning IMHO
i typically buy from southern bloomer or
gi patches direct from the maker

i just have no issue with threads from real cotton patches.
every one has their own version of a "lot".
1000 is a drop in the bucket

Everybody i know who shoots a real lot (>10k/yr) uses pro shot patches. Pull the loose threads before you use em- no problem.

As Dusty Stevens quoted
OR
Purchase your significant other a $2500 surger sewing machine to surge the edges of your cleaning patches.

By far the best cleaning patch I have ever used. Also, great people to deal with. Every time I order he just ships the patches with a invoice. Can't say enough good about them. Plus they ship very prompt.

After using homemade patches cut from the Walmart fabric department (yes I am cheap) to twill and Remay patches to nearly every patch supplier in the market -I finally settled on what most competitors in SR BR use = ProShot. I just don't see any loose threads on the ProShot patches I have on hand....nor do I recall having to pull loose threads from their patches in 10 + years of use. The reason is they are consistent from lot to lot. Gone are the days of pounding on the rod or having to change jags to accommodate the patch thickness and size. I want a proven regimen that produces the desired cleaning results AND is consistent enough to allow me to FEEL the bore. I want zero distractions when cleaning between relays so I can concentrate on watching the flags to observe wind patterns.
