Cleaning face of action locking lugs

imagine an "L" shaped rod attachment or tool that could fit in the action but not the chamber. I've always had trouble getting the space just rear of the breech and forward of the lugs clean. I shoot in way dusty area and getting my lugs scratched up. Any thoughts? Mike

you can get dental packing off ebay for locking lug area cleaning 2000 for 20.00 shipped, these are the wrapped kind or just plain packing 2000 for like 15.00. I bought 4000 about 3 years ago

It cleans up real easy with the barrel removed, a lot easier to clean the barrel and no chance of anything leaking into
the trigger.

Plenty of options. Sinclair, PMA, Dewey, etc. Simple google search brings up the results. I'm sure they all work well. I just happen to use the Dewey.

I also use small angled dental inspection mirrors to make sure the faces of the receiver locking lug abutments are clean. Tried using my borescope originally, but a borescope cant look backwards onto the faces.

I bend toothbrushes (warmed with a cigarette lighter) to a shape that allows the bristles to reach into the lug recesses for cleaning. I bend one for top and bottom and use them for other “hard to reach” tasks and toss them when the bristles won’t clean up satisfactorily.
I don’t have a means to visually inspect the recesses but using a combination of solvent/brush/cotton cloth and occasionally compressed air seems to permit safe and unobstructed operation.

+2 on the PMA cleaning tool.
Wrap a 3" patch over the foam attachment, and does a great job right where you're looking to get!
Fact is, All of the PMA Tools perform at the Top of each class. Pat is a Great Guy to deal with as well..
