Cleaning and accuracy

For just the average shooter that still wants to try to make nice touching holes in paper how much cleaning do you guys do?? Every 15 rounds every 25 rounds?

For the 223 AR match rifle used for XTC, I clean after 200 to 300 rounds. I never try to get squeaky clean. Three wet brush strokes, wet patch then repeat three times. Then dry patch and done. Jb the throat every 500 to 1000 rounds. I keep an accurate round count and note when cleaning is done.

I use this same procedure for load development from the bench for this application.

Depends on - caliber and powder
For 30 caliber (30 BR) I shoot the whole match ~ 60 rounds
For 6mm caliber ( 6 PPC) I clean half way ~30 rounds
For .224 caliber (.222) I clean at end of relay ~10-12 rounds
I always clean while the barrel is warm and follow up with Iosso on a patch at the end of a match.

I only compete with myself, but I shoot ever how much I’m going to shoot that day whether it’s 20 rounds or 200 and then I push a couple of patches of wipeout before leaving the range. I’ll follow up and finish cleaning the next day. With the help of a Teslong bore scope, I’ve got it down to where it’s a pretty quick process to remove all carbon, so that I don’t build up a carbon ring.

There are lots of threads on barrel cleaning, so I won’t go into detail on the process that I use. There would be 50 posts afterwards proclaiming different methods are better and they very well may be, but what I do works for me. My advice is to read a few barrel cleaning threads, buy a bore scope and some some products to test and get after it.
