Classifieds shipping

Just got done with a great deal with another member, and I was reminded of something dear to my cold heart. If you're selling on the classifieds, please remember that USPS Flat Rate ships anywhere in the "US" for one flat rate. period. so, seeing how I live in Alaska, its nice to know that everyone has a chance to buy and ship the same price. Thanks everybody so far, they can tell you its the same price, no extra work or customs forms, just a different address on the box. Shoot straight, don't miss.

Also the same price for sending care packages to our deployed warriors all over the world.

+1 for 86Alaskan. I live in the Valley, so delivery to Wasilla takes an extra day from Anchorage. A package by Priority mail takes 3-4 days to get to me from anywhere in the US. As an aside, If you send by regular mail, it goes from your P.O. to Kent, WA where it gets jungled up with other freight. When a load is gathered up, it goes by Barge-yes barge- to Anchorage. There it gets sorted and sent to the local P.O. it is then "thrown" and out for delivery In my case, it's in my P.O. box as we do not have local mail carriers. This process can take up to a month for the delivery of even a small package. I have been waiting a few weeks for a Red dot sight from a member, who must have not used the "priority" option. I know that this may sound like sniveling, but It just adds angst to a member transaction.
Just a thought.

When I read an ad in the classifieds that the seller will only ship CONUS (continental US)-

I chalk it up to ignorance on their part,a lost sale & drop it like a bad habit.

Priority Mail used to take 3-4 days from Alaska to Florida.
Since USPS started free tracking on each package, it now takes 6-7 days to get to the east coast.

Dan, I often think that folks use CONUS because it sounds "cool". Asa Yam and I both have talked on this subject. Like JET says, our troops serving overseas are eliminated from purchasing stuff also. I have sent stuff from "Soldiers Angels" to troops deployed to the sand. I attribute the CONUS reference to ignorance or lack of education. Folks need to understand that we use the same money ("MERICAN") ;) and the same U.S. Postal Service. We are the 49th and 50th States--All part of the USA. I guess that we are just trying to educate folks. None of this is intended to demean or deride anyone.

Also, pay attention to the calender. I promised to ship 2 items yesterday and forgot that it was a holiday. They were sent today. :-[

I'm glad there is another northerner on here that feels the pain. I understand ray, some stuff is bigger, and I really do appreciate when people come through on sales, i.e. you. I just wanted to get the word out to all the sellers that it's just an address, and like the other Alaskan said, we all pay with "MERICAN" money

I think some folks don't have much faith in the USPS. I know I tape the tar out of them, to many empty boxes get delivered.. I'll ship it if it is legal..
