little wider ES than my long range loads but it shoots really well out to 300 yards,,,no questions or anything just an observation,,

does look like after about 4-5 shots it levels off some,,but I couldnt see POI move any on target at 100 yards through the 15 shots,,

Interesting. What kind of neck tension were you using, and what thickness and clearance? I presume that you are not annealing, since that has not been a common practice for PPCs.

my chamber is a .268 neck ,, my loaded rounds are .265 measured on the pressure ring and using a .263 bushing,,and no annealing, yet anyway that was the 4th time that brass had been loaded,,

it shoots really really well and I shot 2 of my best UBR matches the last 2 months with that load and I really dont want to change anything but do you see something jumping out at you that looks crazy wrong or out of place,,speeds checked with Magnetospeed V2

Looks good to me. I was just curious about the details that I asked about. Thanks for providing the information.

I know a guy with an AMP annealer I could get to anneal the brass,,I am just not sure what the results would be,,so far the only thing I have done to the brass is load and shoot it,,I clean the primer pockets with a brush before priming but have not had them in a tumbler to clean them or ran a brush inside the necks or anything,,
the way it`s been shooting the old saying of "if it aint broke dont fix it" comes to mind,,

Some have reported good luck with the ppc and the amp
I have one and have tried it. IMO just stick with dropping to a tighter bushing as needed

Anybody running a 262 bushing with a 268 chamber?

if the brass gets to where it wont hold a bullet or it feels real loose when seating bullets or starts throwing shots I will let ya`ll know how a .262 bushing works in a .268 neck chamber with a .265 loaded round,,,if it springs back to where the .263 bushing is leaving them now it should shoot the same shouldnt it??

I havent ruled out getting a mandrel set and final sizing the necks from the inside..

but I am not doing anything different until it starts shootin funny

If you use a mandrel on the inside of the neck you will be messing with the carbon in the neck. You can go down a bunch of rabbit holes from there.

I simply cannot imagine not annealing. It must be a distance thing, where 100 and 200 yds you cannot realise the benefit. The uniform shoulder bump, and consistent neck tension should be worth a point or 2. When shooting in competition, seems like you want to leave no stone unturned and go in feeling you are collectively doing more things to help in the end goal. More than your competition. This builds confidence, and should show in the match results. I`d be willing to bet more shooters in short range are annealing than you would ever think. They may not be talking about it, but are doing so.

In group shooting, it certainly isn't happening at every firing considering everyone is reloading between relays. No time to anneal. I do suspect some guys do it after the shooting is done for the day.

The mantra here is do it after every firing. That's only practical if you go pre-loaded which is something the SR group crowd just doesn't do.

Something else to chew on. Does going pre-loaded with annealed brass trump having the ability to constantly tweak loads throughout the day with un-annealed brass?

No, but carrying twice as many annealed cases to allow loading fresh annealed brass would seem to be a plus. Tweek away.

UBR shooters seem to pre-load.

That's a good point and not something I thought of. It would take a couple or three hundred pieces to get through a match. 100 for the record, plus sighters, plus practice rounds if you show up early to ensure tune.

I would think that extra brass investment to be a good one. 300 pieces to go thru and segregate into 100 record cases would also be a plus, working in as large lots as possible is always a good thing when segregating.

I go preloaded and only shoot once a month,,,,so I could get it done.

I may try it but its not something I am gonna do a bunch of testing on,,I wouldnt think it would change the load.
