An inaccuracy problem can be just as if not more challenging and rewarding to solve as with precision. Why is it that a bullet will not hit according to the firing solution? From the outside, solving problems with inaccuracy may appear simple. From the inside, the gallery under which the art of problem solving is placed may not be as simple.
I briefly spoke with a friend during BSW regarding the art of accuracy and precision. There are several schools with literature and curriculum on the equipment and natural and applied science but few on the art of problem solving accuracy. I used the western cowboy artist CM Russell as an illustration. The brush, canvas, and paint are the equipment. The theory with how the prime colors are mixed to form all the colors and how water or oil base paint adhere to canvas could define the natural and applied science. But it still takes the vision of the artist to problem solve application of the equipment in theory to bring a painting to life.
Problem solving is an art. An inaccurate firing solution could be the cause of a single source or a multitude of sources compounding on each other. All of the sources that could contribute to an inaccurate firing solution require troubleshooting until the problem is resolved. One of the first questions to ask is under which gallery will the art, or intended use of the rifle, be displayed. Some galleries common to many competitive shooting events permit unlimited sighting shots to resolve initial firing solution inaccuracies, making problem solving easy and convenient. Other galleries mandate an accurate solution from the onset, deeming a formal art. Three galleries of art are used as an example. Scatter art uses objects and shapes often randomly placed to portray the life of the art. Reflections in art use a mirror image to echo the meaning. The art could be the reflection in an eye caused by an image, either positive or negative. Lastly, a piece of western art by CM Russell is used as an illustration. Each of the three galleries of art use different equipment, theory of application, and artistic problem solving to create the life of the picture.
Look for a school of art and learn from the teachers. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. In the same manner, the ensuing art learned and created will not only be pleasing through the eye of the artist, but through the eye of his brothers and sisters, and most importantly………..through the eye of creation!
