I use ones like this from Amazon and cut pads from an old pair of neoprene waders to adjust the height. I tape the pads to the stock and cinch the pad tight.
Another view, shortened the stock on my Mini.
I got in a bit of a hurry and you can see the tape under the pad, painters tape won't leave residue on the stock.
Link, these work great Amazon has a bunch of them fro $10. up the cheap ones work ust as well as the expensive ones. I like that the ammo holders are velcroed as I can sew them smaller for 222/223/22-204 rounds or sew them to hold 2 Shotgun rounds and 3 rifle rounds for my combo guns.

I bought on at a cabelas years ago.
it is a lace down model. Always slid around a bit on my plastic savage stock. Sticky backed Velcro on the stock and bottom side of the riser cured that problem.
whatever you buy remember that unless you want to remove your stock in order to remove the bolt that the riser needs to be readily removable with the ability to reinstall it pretty spot on to where it was mounted previously.
I have a bad habit of loosing shells that are either sling or stock side mounted so I give up on that years ago. Nowadays I just use a dedicated pocket for a few extras with the remaining spares kept in my backpack.

Also, the Beartooth product comes with neoprene inserts of varying thickness to adjust height. I also bought one for my shotgun.
