When checking runout a loaded round, is it more important to check on the bullet or on the brass?

on the bullet. Close to the ogive is what I have been told. Never seen it checked on a loaded round on the brass

You can also check brass runout after resizing your brass to see if it's creating problems. If so, you know the issue is in the sizing operation. If it's good, seat bullet and check on the ogive. If you encounter excessive runout, you know it's the seater die causing it.
