Cheak riser

I need to raise the comb of the stock for a better cheek weld and scope alignment.
It is a thumb hole stock hunting style.
Do you guys have any ideas what I can do by myself,I have ordered a ammo carrier with a raised cheek foam in side but It has velcro straps that hold it on and have a concern that it will interfere with the rear bag.

I tried several commercially available cheek rest. All of them pushed my head too far to the left. So...,. I took a piece of 1" pine board and cut it so that it was about two inches high.
I put it in my vice and used my gouges to form a channel roughly the same shape as the comb on the stock. Once I had it close, I mixed up some bedding compound (most any epoxy would do) , coated the comb with One-shot, and then set the block of pine on top of the comb until it cured.
Once it cured, I knocked it off the stock, set it back in place and then drilled two mounting holes thru the pine and into the stock. Counter sink the holes and then attach with wood screws. I found that deck screws worked fine.
Now get out your wood rasp and shape the rest. Try and then adjust.......over and over.
Don't finish it until you've taken it to the range and shot it. Make sure it's right. Once you have the rise and probable cast off correct, fill the grain and paint the color of your choice.
I had planned on using threaded inserts to replace the deck screws on mine but the screws are doing just fine so I'm leaving it as is.
Good luck in your quest.

i have seen a few nice ones made out of pine boards, and just about all have been attached in different ways, the only advice i would have is to check your bolt removal and make sure it comes out with out any issues with the new comb. a few of the ones i have seen have dowels that hold them down in so they can just slide out, as they need to be removed to pull the bolt out of the action.

I have installed thumb wheel adjustable hardware half a dozen times with no problems. Have used Master Class, McGees and Warner. All worked (liked the magnetic quick-remove types best). Making the cut was the trickiest part. If you have a scroll saw and are careful you should be OK. Inletting the hardware is straight forward. In lieu of that Brownells sells set screw type riser hardware that works also.

Look up "God a grip"

They have a soft rubber type riser. I bought the one and cut it to fit how I wanted. I like it.
