Chargemaster on daily bulletin

I enjoyed the tutorial in the daily bulletin about changes to the RCBS Chargemaster, but I thought you were supposed to leave the drain open when you fill the hopper with powder. What fun is it if you don't have to clean powder off your loading bench :D

Everybody that owns a Chargemaster has done that once, then you learn to close it or waste a lot of powder :o
Wayne.

the drain has got me a few times also. the tube now wears a sign......check drain.....

the best one is when your in auto dispense and the scale acts up. so you decide to re zero the pan...... bad move...... it shoots out the tube faster than the drain.

Ron,
I would be embarrassed to say how many times I have done that, not that the scale messes up,.. it is I can't stay focused on any one thing, half way through charging cases I will be compelled to measure a bullet or something, or the scale will be sitting there from the day before and I will remove the pan and re zero the scale to weigh something and before you can react there is powder everywhere :o >:(,..... ;D I tell ya! It's still the best thing going for short to mid range BR, pistols and normal range hunting loads IMHO.

I am guilty . . . after about the third time, the first thing I check is the drain door!

Another question: Do you drain the powder after you finish reloading all your rounds?

Just wondering what others do!

I drain all the powder and use the brush to make sure i got it all..also i use a clean 14" x 14" redfield site in target under the chargemaster..makes for cleaning up the " i don't believe i did that " spills easy.

I have the thing sitting on the far right of the bench so the powder falls onto the carpet very quietly until the whole half pound is gone. This is an expensive sport, especially for those of us who have brain farts.

Oh that sucks! I'm a Chargemaster new user... I'll be mindful of this.

I also drain all the powder, use the brush and then dispense a load into the powder pan in order to clean the dispenser tube. However, I find a few kernels of powder remain. Now my last step is to blow compressed air into the dispenser tube. Usually one or two kernels are blow back into the hopper container. I then open the drain and remove the last kernels of powder.

It sure does suck.

That would make me so angry, I believe I'd light it and walk out....

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this but when I open the drain the powder flows for maybe a second and then stops.

I have two chargemasters, I don't have any problem as you state above!

that's one of the statements along with a few others that will come out of your mouth.

I'll be mindful of this. now that's funny. i can remember saying that to myself after it happen to me....it will get you when you least expect it.

Can someone help me? Tried to turn off the beep and setup auto disp. with no luck. I turned on scale and calibrated it returned powder pan to scale and rezeroed. After rezeroing held down zero button for around a minute or so and nothing happened. So tried to set auto disp. entered powder charge and held down the enter key for a minute or so and nothing happened. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Turn the unit off for one minute, I mean disconnect the power from the unit.

Plug it back in, turn it on, start your calibration process, if it does not work like it originally did, you have a problem with the unit!

You should not have to hold any key more than 1/2 a second! I believe there is an online manual just in case you have triggered a reprogramming process, but again, powering the unit off should restart it.

auto disp.... is as easy as enter weight you want and press disp key. it will weigh the charge an stop when it reaches it. put empty pan back on scale as soon as it zeros it will disp again. to turn it off hit stop/cancel key.

not sure of the top of my head how to turn off beep or add a charge to memory

I don't want you ChargeMaster owners to think you've got all that kind of fun to yourselves - the Hornady is just as capable of dumping powder all over the loading bench too! You just have more settings for it ;)
