Chargemaster Lite Straw Mod

Anyone who runs the CM Lite, have you performed the McD straw mod and had success? All the videos I’m finding of the mod as well as threads on here seem to reference the original Chargemaster with regards to the straw mod. Will a 1.5” McD straw cut with 6 notches work well with the Chargemaster lite or are other dimensions/mods more desirable for this particular powder thrower? I typically run into zero issues using extruded powders but occasionally get overthrows and looking to fix this issue.

I made the switch years ago. Occasional overthrows with H4350 and such but much fewer now.

I did the straw thing for year or so and then bought an insert I saw here. I forget what member sells them but he has them on eBay, ordered one 2-3 months ago and would never go back. If your doing ball powder its money and if your doing stick powder it’s better than the straw imo, I’ve had a couple over charges in500+ rounds using H4350, Varget, IMR 4350, AA 5744, I haven’t tried IMR 4064 yet, it always gave the straw mod the most problems, seems like 1 out of 10 was do over.

It comes slightly undersized, a small piece of scotch tape works perfectly. I guess the charge master and charge master lite has and various inside diameters For the dispensing tube.

I went back and looked at messages, the forum member who offers the insert found on EBay is MGM.

I have a LITE and use one of the reducing inserts I purchased on this forum, possibly the same guy on ebay. Well worth the $$, I still have a few over/unders, but I only use my LITE in volume situations.

Cortina did a comparison of the Chargemaster to some high dollar thrower. He ran each load 2 grns or so under and trickled the remainder in. The Chargemaster was extremely accurate measuring in this manner. I pulled my straw and started throwing powder the same way. A bit slower, but given the cost of components, it’s worth it for me…

Go to a auto parts store and get a brass fitting for a fuel line . Insert the hose end in your CM. You want a snug fit not a forced one. You may need to take of a little brass with sandpaper . with this insert i get one over run in 200 +/- charges . With 4831 4350 etc. You may not need it with ball powder BLC2 and the like.
