Chargemaster 1500 ?

My chargemaster 1500 is consistent at + or - one tenth. Is that accurate enough for 300 yd bench rest competition?

I am asking 1/10 0ver and 1/10 under is a 2/10 spread, is that close enough or do you need to be more precise?

I can only speak for myself. For me it's not accurate enough for 100m benchrest. I check every charge with second scale. Moroever, my chargemaster's accuracy decreased after 1.5 year. It's practically non-repairable here in Europe.

Only the target can answer that question. Just my two cents. Tommy Mc

With a smaller diameter insert in the charge tube and tuning the parameters, mine delivers +/-0.05 about 90% of the time; I know this because I weigh them on a separate scale. I wouldn't settle for 0.1 for my needs.

You may want to send it to these guys.

If you are shooting a 6PPC, 6BR, or 30BR, +- .1 it is plenty accurate.

If you don’t believe me, feel free to spend a small fortune on the latest whiz bang scale set-up and report back how much better your rifle Aggs at 300.

Your Chargemaster should be more accurate at dispensing than that. What scale are you using to check this? If you are seeing this spread on the Chargemaster scale you probably need to adjust the programs to slow it down.

1. The RCBS Chargemaster advertised accuracy is +/- 0.1 gr. That means if your Chargemaster is showing 45.4 gr, it might be 45.3 gr or it might be 45.5 gr, or it might be 45.4 gr. You cannot tell my looking at the display.

2. You say your Chargemaster is consistent at + or - one tenth gr. Does that mean when you set disburse to 45.4 gr, sometimes it finishes at 45.3 gr and sometimes it finishes at 45.5 gr? If that is the case, your Chargemaster is only throwing +/- 0.2 gr.

Without knowing more about your equipment, skill, and goals (just compete is good enough? must win some portion?) really very difficult to answer that. You scale might be good to 0.01 gr and you still might not be competitive, if you understand what I am saying.

IIRC .1 gr. of H4895 is about 6 kernels, just speaking for myself I would expect any scale /dispenser used for competition exceed that level of accuracy.

To check it I am using both a digital scale and a balance beam

RCBS told me to send the scale over to US for repair and recommended Lone Mountain. Cost of shipping & repair exceeds in this case cost of new unit, so I pass. It's good to have a decent electronic scale such as FX120i or Ohaus.

would you please explain tuning the parameters?

As best as I recall without going into my files, you can change the timing and speeds it uses to shift into pretrickle and trickle modes so the trickling is more precise. The main charging can still run fast.
