FORUM NOTICE CHANGE Your Password RIGHT NOW if it is OLD -- READ THIS!

Today we have been tracking connections from Banned IPs.

We found that over 40 accounts, mostly created before 2015, were all accessed on the same days in September, October, and December.

We believe these accounts shared passwords with other Forums that were breached.

These accounts were accessed with NO changes to passwords. This suggest a list of old passwords got out onto the Dark web sometime in September and then again in December.

Folks, I cannot stress this strongly enough.

1. Run software on your phone and computer(s) to ensure you do not have Key-Logging.
2. Connect via a SECURE connection (not a public restaurant or store).
3. CHANGE Your password.

-- make it UNIQUE -- not used anywhere else
-- make it at least 9 characters long
-- do NOT use any part of your real name or Forum handle.

4. Before you update the password, WRITE IT Down. Get a PEN or pencil and Write it down. Double check.

Do not spend a single penny ever without a VOICE PHONE CALL.

Pick up the PHONE and DIAL!!!

The scammers may actually claim to be deaf or unable to talk -- that's a LIE and a total give-away.

Also if the phone does not match the sellar's claimed location -- assume this is a fraud. Likewise if the guy is using some phone forwarding (such as Google voice), be vary wary.

I want to repeat, for the Nth time -- understand that even a valid long-term account can be hacked in a matter of seconds.

With ANY transaction, you absolutely MUST do a VOICE call.

I have tried to explain this to members over and over and over again.

People don't get it.

With the voice call -- check for foreign accents, be wary of phone forwarding. Ask the seller for information on his shooting club, his reloading tools.

And never buy anything without a custom photo. That requires something touching the item for sale and the item re-photographed in a DIFFERENT location.

Another tip. Ask the seller for his city and state. Then ask some questions about local ranges. Then ask a few loaded questions such as "what kind of 17 mm rifle do you shoot". "Have you tried the new all carbon fiber shotgun from Hodgdon?"

If you spot a scammer, get as much info as possible.

I also recommend that you look carefully at the history of any account that contacts you. If there is no post history and no activity in recent years, be extra careful.

With any sale over $500 I would also ask for the seller’s shooting club affiliation. And, for the Nth time — never do a sale without a voice call.

We have just installed a new Security Function that requires a password re-set for any account that has not been active for two years.

We will see how this works, and may shorten the time to one year.

All levels of government data(private information, ELECTIONS, financials) communications(cell phone), utilities and banks are having to counter hacks DAILY. Both from foreign and domestic "groups". The Chinese government employee 50 hackers for every one of our counter cyber government employees. Plan accordingly.

Actually yes! The password generators on most browsers are pretty good: they help you use a unique password on each site, and the passwords they generate are much more random than humans can come up with.

I have been trying to reset my password yesterday and today but I'm not receiving the email with the code.
I'm not sure what to do. I tried to use my Apple authentication but had no luck and disabled it and tried the email again but have not received one. I feel stupid! LOL . Any help would be appreciated.
