Chambering Pistol Barrel - FNX 40 Super/10MM

I have a FNH FNX 45 Tactical that I want to use for woods defense. I've been trying to get a 40 Super barrel for it for about 4 years. I'd also settle for a 10mm barrel. Nobody makes them - blows my mind. The FNX is the perfect platform for a 10mm and you will see tons of people requesting them on FN's social media.

Is there anyway to modify an existing FNX .40 S&W barrel to be rechambered for 10mm or 40 Super?

Any gunsmiths out there that can do this, or any other ideas?

WHY DOESN'T FN MAKE A 10MM FNX!?!

Thanks!

I bet FN has checked the market and seen that the 10mm isnt very popular. Im surprised they still make the fnx actually. The 10mm is about 3x as hard on frames as the 40 so i wouldnt think youd find many that will run a reamer in to convert a 40 as easy as it would be. Do you think the magazine will handle the extra length of the 10?

Mags would need some finagling with 10mm.

40 Super would be no mag issues.

Can't you compensate for the increased recoil with a heavier recoil spring? The FNX is pretty stout to begin with. I believe people shoot 45 Super out of them stock, if my memory serves me correctly.

I got my first 10mm in the early 90's. Have had many over the years of various types. I would recommend buying a revolver and not in 10mm. If the rumour was true that Bill Ruger thought the 10 was overrated, he was right. A 10 in anything other than a steel large frame auto is a pain in the a$$. Too violent and particular about loads. Also a lot of 10mm brass is too short from the factory. I'm talking about bulk brass. Headspaces on the case mouth but is cut below minimum trim lenght. Accuracy is a long time coming. Save the time I wasted, get a revolver.

The whole point in having a 10 is capacity. A 6 shot revolver in 10mm is definitely not a better choice than say a 44mag

This is true of several different calibers of brass. The point I'm shining light on is most pistols headspace off of the extractor. How could sub trim length brass actually be doing the headspacing?

Good question. According to the manuals the 10 and the 40 headspace off the case mouth. Both calibers carry a warning about seating bullets too deep and causing pressure problems. Max length is 982 and trim lenght is 982. The Hornady maunual lists trim length at 987. Most bulk brass from different brands run around 980. Accuracy with factory guns can be hard to find. It can be done, but in can be a chore. I agree with Dusty, a 4" revolver in 44 mag on up and learn how to shoot it well.
