Chamber scratch repair

I purchased a used Barrel that was practically new for a good price. I Lapua case is all it took for me to see why he sold it. There are some relatively deep scratched with proud metal that is causing an unacceptable amount of damage near the shoulder. I have some metal working skills and was going to try and polish it out with a suitable attachment on the end of cleaning rod etc. Does anyone have some input they would like to share.

You can grind out the proud metal but you can't fill the void. Run a chambering reamer in until the chamber is clean and then reset the head space. If it wasn't in the chamber, you could tap the proud metal back into its proper place and probably be happy. I wouldn't try it in the chamber area.

He should give you your money back as he left out that little connotation when he sold it to you.

Yes. Quite possibly the reason he disposed of it in the first place.

Thanks for everyone's input.

I purchased this thing several years ago and am just getting around to using it. I guess if returning it were an option I wouldn't be here asking this question. : j

So the proud metal is all I am after.

I will see if I can get some pictures up in the next few days. Been busy latley.
