Chamber Reamer usage question

I'm considering the purchase of my first chamber reamer. I had my rifle custom made by a gunsmith who chambered the new barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor. Now I want a new f.l. die to match my chamber since the Hornady die (the only production die there is) has a much tighter shoulder than my fireformed cases (.02 difference). This means that I'm overworking the brass every time.

I could order a custom die set, wait and wait for it to arrive,

or pay my gunsmith to make a custom die from his reamer, wait and wait for that to be done,

or order my own reamer, run it through my existing die by hand to hopefully accomplish the same result and have my own reamer for the next rebarrel.

Each of these options costs about the same so what would you do?

It sounds to me like the smith's reamer is off. Check the fired cases against SAMMI specs and see. If it's the die, send it back to Hornady. Is it really a problem? How's accuracy? I would take a couple of cases and fire them several times to see if there's a problem. If not shoot it.

If the smith's reamer is off, the manufacturer can regrind it to correct it and save everyone alot of greif. If you get a custom die you are making a wildcat out of a standard cartridge.

Just my $0.02

Chamber +Die Reamer Sets, if you want a die that sizes brass for your chamber perfectly . Do this>>>> ...Order a chamber (and a) sizing die), (thats a (2 )die set)( Listen thats a 2 Die Set) From dave Kiff , At PTG he knows all about this. for a extra ~ $175 roughly for each die) you will you will have the best sizing die set up ever.
Don't guess the sizing die by buying generic dies ...when you can have the perfect die. NO questions asked, you have the best die money can buy, by buying a Set of dies. , (1 Set of chamber and Sizing die reamers). If you are serious about dies, this is the only way to go.
The sizing die is ground to the perfect size , to size a piece of brass to your chamber. When you size a 1000 plus cases per yr. this die set makes good sense. If you have a lathe you can buy a Blank die (Newlon Die Blank) and machine it by yourself ::::::Or send your barrel and the Blank Newton die to your smith. and he can chamber the barrel and chamber a Newlon Die Blank die. for your caliber. THATS a prefect sizing die . Most Generic dies will size too much shoulder DIA. or body DIA. or not enough base DIA.
Now you have a custom Die for your gun,,( Chamber) Lots of money well spent. I recommend ...GUN Smith....Bob Green, and Newton Die Blanks. Both these fellows are the best.

There is something wrong, number wise, somewhere. Unless you meant .002 as opposed to .02. Your smiths reamer sounds to be way out of spec. Can you clarify?
