Chamber neck taper

Is there a benefit to running taper of .001 from nk- shoulder junction to end of the neck on a 30 cal?
Example .344- .343 what say you

Typically brass is thicker near the shoulder which is why you see some chambers with taper. I have done it both ways. Now I just take the bigger number and run it straight. Clearance is a good thing here.

I like having some taper, just to guarantee a clean surface finish. Having said this, all of my old benchrest reamers are straight. I never thought of it back then. WH

I turn my necks on my LR hunting rifles so maybe just stick with the straight.
Maybe if I do a no turn ill try a taper.

I can’t say it makes any difference at all but more recently I’ve been using a tapered neck for no turn and a parallel for turned. For a no turn and for simplicities sake I see no problem to run the extra clearance all the way out.

I've done it both ways. No difference in accuracy. As Will said you get a uniform finish.

As a case is drawn out from a brass "coin" to a "cup" and so on , the generic case forms with tapered walls the entire length. When a specific case is later formed in dies, some taper remains. SAAMI chamber specs take this into account. Only when we turn necks do we arrive at neck walls with zero taper.
