CFE 223

Alright I looking to see if anyone has used CFE 223 for their .204? Do you get more shots before the barrel is fouled?

Currently I'm using H4895 and am having good success with it, but if I could gain almost 100 fps with the same grouping along with getting more rounds through the barrel why not? I think on my next order I will get 1# and see how it does, still want to hear from you guys if you have some experience with it.

I just recieved a new model 12 Savage in 204 and am going to try that powder first to keep fouling down during breakin. As soon as my scope comes in it's off to my cow pasture range for some load testing.

I just started messing around with this stuff in my 204 about a week ago, compared to reloder 10x using 39gr. blitzkings (which does really well in my gun) I'd say we have a winner, the speed is there and the grouping has been a little bit better. Cant say for sure yet about less copper i've got shilen barrel thats always stayed pretty clean anyways.

Do you know exactly what your velocity was and is now? Any numbers on group sizes?

I shot a simple ladder test this past Saturday five three shot groups starting at 27.9 grs = 3826 av.
28.2 = 3881
28.6 = 3912
29.0 = 3974 Hodgden's listed max load
29.3 = 4014
Temp. was 75 degrees using my beta chrony i did not record the E.S. they were not very good but every group was a very nice little clover leaf. Brass was once fired winchester neck sized BR-4 primers Sierra 39 blitzkings.
My go to load for this gun is the same as listed above except for the powder which is 25.3 grs of reloder 10x which is pretty darn hot.
Two weeks ago this load was running a 3980 average over a friends chrony at 86 degrees.
The gun is a Stevens 200 with a Shilen prefit 26" varmint contour barrel bedded in a B&C tactical/varmint stock, rifle basix trigger, scope is Leupold 4.5-14x40.
Anybody shooting a 204 ruger might want to give this stuff a try. My loads are hot use caution!
