Cerakote after a bedding job?

Any question that you ask of this nature comes from a thought that it will cause a detrimental outcome.

Whatever anybody says to you, you will forever have that nagging doubt, particularly if something goes awry later. I believe that it is known as a self fulfilling prophesy.

Can you not take it apart and then cerakote it? I dont think youll have a problem putting it back together if its done right.

Or use air dry cerakote

I always Cerakote after bedding- not going to risk any cosmetic blemishes on a brand new Cerakote job. Any cured epoxy bedding compound (and stock/chassis) will easily flex the couple of thousandths if needed to comply with the added thickness of the Cerakote-and it will have no affect on the integrity of the bedding job.

It seems to me that the OP is looking to Cerakote a chassis after it has been bedded. I can't claim to know definitively the outcome of that however I would defer to several 'smiths (that I'm friendly with) that would recommend Cerakote before bedding the chassis.
Paint
Bed
Assemble
Shoot
Good luck in your endeavours.

I always coat a receiver before bedding. If it’s a stock or chassis that is already bedded then cook it low like a glock. The bedding should see 200 F, but may shrink to rated shrinkage of compound. Safe way to cope is cure with action in stock after staging cerakote.

Hi there, we've done both, coating before a bedding job, as well as coating after a bedding job.
We've been doing that here in Canadia for about 4 years now, with no ill effects.

We bake at a lower temperature on stocks that are bedded prior to Cerakoting, and when we do barreled actions, we take care to mask off the recoil lug.

well I can tell you it is not a good idea to bake after the bedding job! Ended up having to redo the bedding. Thanks
