Cerakote a bbl first

Can I cerakote a bbl before its chambered and fitted to the action?

I would have the smithing part done first otherwise your coating is going to get blemished.

Not recommended Heat generated from your cutting edge can weaken the coating and leave it blemished.

It wont work well. I did a set back on one, even being careful it got a spot or two marred. Also the dark oil that got on it kind of changed the sheen of it. I just blasted it and re sprayed it.

I've set one back a couple times... Wrap it in electrical tape, etc, you're still going to leave marks from a chip, or the chuck, etc.

However, some super find sand paper clears it up...


But no, for a new one, metal work first.
