i have the base celestron 100....and have issues with red/orange target lines. i can see 6 and 30 holes at 1000 on an ibs target....but that is a lite blue center..not black.
for the price i believe it is a very good scope.
there is a 1000yd shooter that bought one but i have not seen him post on it.


and that price is $150 less than optics planet which normally has killer pricing

I picked the 100 F-ED up late 2011 and have used it at 300/500/600/1000 yard matches. Up to 600 yards I can pick out blades of grass. At 1000 yards I've still got a crisp clean picture at 67x. I picked mine up at High Point Scientific for $670 with free shipping. It's a bit big - but it's clear as can be

I have the Regal 80 and feel it is a very nice spotter for the money. My eyes are old and tired so I cannot give you a real scientific review. I can see 6mm holes at 600 on a good day depending on mirage.

I think you should read the numerous user reviews on that weblink and draw your own conclusions.

BOhio, I kinda like to hear from people who are using them in the shooting sports you know..Don't really care about bird watching
