CED M2 and OCW method?

The OCW (Optimal Charge Weight) method calls for the shooter to test rounds in a "round robin" rotation: 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4..... vs 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3..... rotating between aiming points, in order to minimize or spread out the effects of wind, light, fatigue, etc. So far, so good. If I'd like to chronograph the rounds at the same time, using a CED M2, does anyone know if there's a way to have shot 1 go into string 1, 2 go into string 2, etc. starting over with shot 5 going into string 1?

I've looked over the manual and it looks like I'd have to just stick it all in one string and sort it out later.

Sorry if I've totally muddled the description of how OCW is done. A description can be found in ¶ 11 & 12 here.

From personal experience with the CED M2 . . . the best approach is probably pencil and paper. You need to wait in between shots anyhow, so recording each MV will give you something to do.

If you want to replicate the calcs the CED could do if you had meaningful groups, you can use Excel or the Calc program from the free Open Office download. But with 3 shots per group, outlier "ES" results are easy to see and only the average MV is really useful.

ETA: The hardest part of OCW with an optical chrono is probably positioning the chrono's small window so that all your targets are within reach.

Thanks. I was planning on using a modified Redfield target (4 diamonds) at 100 yds. So, I shouldn't have to swing the rifle more than a few minutes from diamond to diamond.

Why I added that comment . . . I use 8 2-inch bulls on an 8.5"x11" sheet oriented landscape. Set up the chrono and sighted for what I thought was the difficult dimension - the width of the row of 4 bulls. Tried to keep the required trajectory as low as possible to minimize lost shots.

The mistake was using the top row of bulls. My first shot at the second row went through the chrono's forward sensor. I had forgotten - more likely ignored - that the barrel was 2+" below the scope.
