CCI BR2 vs CCI 250, which do you like

Don't know about the 6.5X284 but I had better luck with BR2 and CCI 200's in my 308. I actually could see no difference between the two.

Once the weather got cooler last fall during load development I got a couple hang/miss fires with the br2 so I switched to the 250 and had no more trouble.

Not sure what powder you're shooting and how much but I think the 6.5-284 needs the hotter primer for the larger powder charge.

The misfire is because BR2 has a thicker cup. It needs seated with a slight crush and a strong firing pin spring. I shoot regular primers in a WSM with heavy loads of 4350. Matt

The BR2 has caused me problems in the past so I wont use them at all anymore. CCI 250's are one of my favorites, along with S&B LRM's and Wolf's

I use BR-2's in 308win with most loads and WLR with ball powders.
210-M in 243w, 300winmag and 7mm-08

Truth is you will have to try both to know for sure which works best for your loads.

I've always run Br2s.

The reason I asked is that I did load development with CCI 250 and CCI BR2, not mixed, carefully labeled. I shot berger 140 Vld with 52.7 gr VV N165. I did not notice
any difference in group size at all. The BR 2 is a bit more expensive [not a factor in my mind]. The CCI website states that the BR 2 is very controlled during mfg for consistency [whatever that means]. The site does state that the 250 is better/hotter for larger cartridges/powder load. I just have not noticed any difference with the 6.5 in
my rifle. Three shot groups with both primers were 0.625 to 0.5, consistently,
at 200yds. Now to see how the whole works and shooter do at 600yd F-Open match.
