Good ES and SD
If you get a hangfire or fail to fire it's usually not the primers fault. The BR primer has a thicker, tougher cup. It needs seated to the bottom with a slight crush and the firing pin spring needs to be strong. Also it helps it the pin is heavy. That's why BAT made the new pins heavier and gunsmiths have added weights to the pins. MattI have less than 1000 CCI primers in my primer vault. I have 10-15,000 Remington and a similar amount of Winchester. I do have the odd 2-3000 each of Wolf and Federal.....I hope this gives you a hint about my choices. I grew up using CCI exclusively. Then I got into competition shooting and hunting. Too many failures at the wrong times....
I don't think you will see the CCI BR primers on sale. They are very scarce and way more money then a regular primer. Around here they go for $50.00 a thousand. Regular Federals go for about 30.00. Like I said they need seated on the bottom and your gun needs to hit them hard. MattCCI may have improved their process and quality since the mid to late 80s....they hadn't when my wife worked there in 2003 or so. If I see them on sale, I may try a brick or two.....will not buy a sleeve of 5000 until I know they are better than my Remington 7 1/2, 9 1/2, and Winchester WLR, WSR.
Thanks for the info.
