CBI 260 Remington Match Chamber Question

I have a chance to purchase a CBI varmint contour 26" barrel in 260 Rem with a match chamber. My question is would I still be able to load 123 scenars to the lands? I know there would not be any problems with the 139's, 140's or 142's but I would like to shoot the 123's for hunting also.

The chamber on the match is .160 and the chamber on the non match 260 is .118.

Thanks,

Shawn

Do you mean the cbi has .160 thou of freebore or am I not understanding this very well.

I have a CBI 260 REM heavy sporter with match chamber. I've only shot 130 vld so far, and touch lands with a col of 2.950". My barrel has a .160" of freebore.

I should have explained the measurements a little better:)

The match chamber has .160 thousandths of freebore vs .118 thousandths..

The more I think about it the more I think I will be okay. I am mainly worried about the base of the 120 L's and the 123's being too far forward in the case neck while being seated .20 or .10 from the lands. I haven't given the VLD's any consideration since I hear they are picky little turkeys.

Thanks,

Shawn

I don't have anything lighter than 130's, but I did try a 136 Scenar and it measured 2.900" max col touching lands.

I'm sure you'll be fine. These CBI's are tack driving barrels IMO.

I'm shooting the CBI match barrel with the .160 freebore. I've used both the Sierra and Lapua 123's and they worked great. On my setup the measurements were ~2.840 COAL and 2.290 from ogive to base. That was .020 off the lands. My load is 45.5 gr. of H4350 and is near max for my gun. I sawed off 2 inches and I'm getting right at 3000fps with the 24".

You will be fine. My 6.5x47 Lapua has a .175" freebore and even the Nosler 100 gr. bullet work well in it. 123's will work perfect, go for it.
