Case tumblers or case vibrators

if ever i feel inclined to have shinny brass .the primers get punched out ,gets put into wet tumble 1/2 hour later put into corncob media to dry . annealed lubed and sized trimmed. then back into corncob media for a 1/2 hour of shaking to remove lube .

I use a Tumbler's UV-10, Lizard Litter Desert Blend, and a dollop of Nu-Finish. I tried not tumbling for a long time but got tired of filthy hands and dies.

I clean primer pockets on all rifle but never clean straight walled pistol.

I use a FA wet tumbler with SS pins and a squirt of DAWN dish soap, you can figure out the run time to just clean the brass to what your needs are, if you want to leave some carbon in the necks {ETC} and it will still clean the outside of the case clean, then I put the brass in a rotating sifter to remove any pins, I dry my cases by putting them loading blocks or plastic cartridge containers, stand the brass upright and use a hair dryer to blow off the water, and this also heats up the brass and removes all the moisture, it takes less than 5mins to dry 50 cases or more depending on how you set up your brass to dried? JMO

I have a "'tumbler" that is a rotary 5 gallon bucket which I made, I also have a mid sized Midway vibrating case cleaner. I find no difference in the cleaning ability of these two units.
I use medium sized ground corn cob with Dillon's Rapid polish. I clean with the old primers still in the cases, because when I size the clean cases, I want the primer pin to push out any corn cob stuck in the primer hole.
I separate the brass from the media with a Dillon Media separator.

I later clean the primer pockets using a motorized primer pocket cleaner.

Frankfort arsenal vibrating. and this timer

I had a dillon, but it cost 3X what the FA cost to get a new motor. I have an extra tub for it also, its very near the trash can if anyone wants to pay shipping for it. but the motor is toast. thats how I ended up with 4 FA.

I run 4, plugged into a strip that the timer controls. 2 with walnut and 2 with corn. de-prime run in walnut cleans 80% or more of PP. I always uniform anyhow, and that gets the last little bit. Then after sizing run in the corn to get the lube off. I usually have all 4 running at night, or start in the morning when im at the range.
I like the one button push to start them, i run for 6hr, but probably could go less.
I think it was Brian that did tests and cleaning PP did not change anything, and he did a test with PP plugged with media, and that didn't change anything ether. I do look at them and use a AR firing pin to knock any media out of the flash hole anyhow, just makes me feel good.

I have both rotary and vibrator tumblers. Both do a poor job running dry media when it comes to cleaning pockets with traditional corn cob or walnut media. I think vibrating with a really fine grade aluminum oxide or other mildly abrasive media would do the trick. I use the little RCBS primer pocket brush - but not in the hand tool for which it was designed. I chuck it in my drill and can get it done fairly quick. But I don't clean my pockets on every firing.
